NaViTex Project Closing Workshop Danang, March 11, 2016

Advanced Oxidation Processes for Textile Wastewater Treatment

and Other Applications

Effluents from textile plants are highly toxic and hard to treat by conventional wastewater treatment plants. Since a couple of years, Vietnam is one of the fastest growing countries. A perceptible part of the growth is arising from the textile and garment industry. Wastewater from textile plants is one of the major sources of environmental problems.

In order to deal with such challenges, the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) launched the program "International Partnerships for Sustainable Technologies and Services for Climate Protection and the Environment" (CLIENT) in the framework of its initiative "Research for Sustainable Development". This program aims at initiating international partnerships for research and development in the fields of environmental technology.

Together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the BMBF enabled the project NaViTex. NaViTex was realized by a German-Vietnamese consortium. Headed by TU Dresden and Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the aim was the development of novel ways for the degradation of waste water produced by textile and dye factories.
